U.S tractor and combine sales started 2021 off on a strong note, notching some significant improvements compared to the same period one year ago, according to the latest Flash Report from the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM).

Sales of 2WD tractors in the under-40 HP segment saw a nearly 33 percent improvement over the same period a year ago, AEP reports, while sales in the 40HP to under-100 HP segment saw a 16 percent improvement and sales in the 100+ segment saw a 1.2 percent improvement.

Equally strong were sales in the 4WD segment, up 33.7 percent compared to just one year ago. AEM says total farm tractor sales are up 24.7 percent over last years sales. Sales of self-propelled combines saw a significant bump in January, up nearly 77 percent over sales in January 2020.

AEM adds the continued strong sales follow a trend that first showed up in the April 2020 Flash Report.
