About the Dealer
Roy Adams, having been a truck driver since the age of 14 and learning to be a mechanic as he went, had trucks in his blood. Roy opened Adams Auto Service in the early 50’s and opened Mack Truck Sales as a partial owner in the late 50’s. Roy sold his share in Mack and started Wichita Kenworth Inc. in 1971 with Forrest King and partners with a total of three employees. By 1980 they had opened Dodge City Kenworth and in 1983 Roy Adams took full ownership of the company. Having started working for the Company in 1975 Cliff Adams took over Wichita Kenworth Inc. from Roy in 1991 after having worked his way up from head janitor. Successfully building on his father’s business, Cliff opened Liberal Kenworth in 1998 and Emporia Kenworth in 2009. Cliff’s son, Brad Adams, went to work for the company in 1998 detailing trucks. Now, having worked his way up through the company, Brad became Vice President in 2018 and continues to grow the business today. The Adams family is now three generations strong as a Kenworth dealer and has celebrated its 50th anniversary. WKI Operations Inc. has just received Gold Awards for its work in 2018 & 2020. The “Gold Award” recognizes the highest scores for excellence in Parts, Service, Truck Sales and Paclease. This award truly recognizes all of our departments as a unified team of professionals.
